Am I covered by insurance during my fellowship tenure?

Medical insurance coverage is highly recommended since the Taiwan Fellowship does not provide medical/health insurance. A recipient and his/her dependents should have valid medical/health insurance in his/her home country that is effective throughout his/her stay in Taiwan. However, accidental death and disability insurance of NT$1 million and medical treatment for each accident of up to NT$50,000 will be provided for the Taiwan Fellowship tenure. Recipients who have held an ARC (Alien Resident Certificate) and then stayed in Taiwan for at least 6 consecutive months are urged to apply for Taiwan’s National Health Insurance at the nearest township or district office to your residence. The National Health Insurance is to be paid for at your own expense.
