MOFA Taiwan Fellowship Presentation I-Ukraine-Russia Crisis and Regional Security Issues


The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship first Presentation was held on Wednesday, 8 June 2022. The topic was Ukraine-Russia Crisis and Regional Security Issues Due to the pandemic, it is also the online webinar.

Mr. Chung-kwang TIEN, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered the opening remarks online; Ms. Anna A. Kao, President, Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered the closing remarks.

The presentation was moderated by Dr. Klement Gu, Director-General, Department of Policy Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented by Ms. Camille Lons, Research Associate, International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) with the topic: The Ukraine-Russia Crisis and the Awakening of a Geopolitical Europe: What Impact on Europe-China-Taiwan Relations?; Mr. Yoichi Kato, Special Fellow, Waseda Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Japan with the topic: Impact of Russian Invasion of Ukraine on Japanese Public Opinion and its Security Strategy, Including Response to Cross-Strait Contingencies; and Dr. Rajagopal Devara, Principal Secretary, Government of Maharashtra, India with the topic: Global Relations and Regional Security Issue with India-Taiwan-PRC Perspective.

The discussants are: Prof. Yu-jen Kuo, Institute of China and Asia-Pacific Studies & Director of the Center for Japanese Studies (CJS), National Sun Yat-sen University; and Associate Prof. Tzu-li Lin, Department / Graduate Institute of Political Science, Tunghai University.

The number of the attendee, including physically and virtually, is about 40. All the scholars and participants had learned a lot from the event, also known the different viewpoint of Ukraine-Russia Crisis and Regional Security Issues
